Jenya Shekhter | Set Design

Jenya Shekhter (Set Designer)

Born in Odessa, where she later began her professional immersion at the Odessa School of Theater Arts. After moving to Israel she continued her education in the theater department of Tel Aviv University (Master of Fine Arts).

Throughout her professional career she has developed scenography and costumes for various Israeli repertory theaters, theater festivals, acting schools, and several independent theatrical projects. Productions designed by Jenya have been shown at many international festivals and have been critically acclaimed among juries. Three years ago Jenya had moved to Boston, and is now continuing to work on productions in Israel (remotely) and in the United States. Recent plays designed by Jenya include - "Sailor's Silence", "Uncle Vanya", "Dead Souls", "A View from the Bridge", "The Dead Souls", "Elsinor."

Last year Jenya came up with the concept and designed the stage set for PM Theater's inaugural show The Singing Windmills. The show was a tremendous success, and after 2 sold-out runs Off-Broadway, went on a country-wide US Tour in the summer of 2023, including a stop in Shekhter's adopted home city of Boston.
